prediction of pvt properties of pure refrigerants using ism equation of state
Authors
abstract
a three-parameter cubic equation of state has been proposed for predicting pvt of pure refrigerantssuch as r236ea, r236fa, r245fa, r245ca, r218, r227ea, and r717, from freezing point up to critical pointtemperature and pressures up 650 atm. we explore the theory of the equation of state from the view pointof ihm–song–mason (ism) equation of state, which has been derived on the basis of statistical mechanicalperturbation theory, and is characterized by three temperature dependent parameters, a, b, b2 , and a freeparameter λ. the second virial coefficients are calculated from a correlation based on the heat of vaporization,δhvap, and the liquid density at the normal boiling point, ρnb. α(t ) and b(t ) can also be calculated fromsecond virial coefficients by a scaling rule. the theory has considerable predictive power, since it permitsthe construction of the pvt surface from the heat of vaporization and the liquid density at the normal boilingpoint. the results indicate that the liquid densities can be predicted with very good agreement over a widerange of temperatures, 100–400 k.

PVT Properties of Pure Lubricants Using Equations of State and Artificial Intelligence
Statistical mechanical and artificial intelligence models are developed to predict the volumetric properties of lubricants under different conditions. It is shown that the knowledge of just liquid density at room temperature is satisfactory to approximate the PVT properties of pure lubricants in various conditions. As well, the performance of an artificial neural network (ANN) based on back pro...
full textVLE Properties from ISM Equation of State: Application to Pure and Mixture
In this paper, the vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) properties of polar and nonpolar fluids are modeled by the use of a statistically-based equation of state (EOS). The equation of state used in this work is that of Ihm-Song-Mason (ISM) EOS. An alternative approach is to revise the isothermal integration on liquid. In this respect, a temperature-dependent revision factor b (T) is introduced to th...
full textModified Equation of State Applied to Refrigerants
An analytical equation of state has been previously modified by Papari et al. for representing the volumetric properties of molecular fluids. However the performance of that EOS has not been yet well investigated for refrigerant fluids. This study extended that equation to 19 liquid refrigerants to predict their densities at isothermal and saturated states. Two temperature-independent parameter...

The present study investigates the performance and relative accuracy of four lattice-hole theory based equations of state in modeling and correlating the liquid density of pure refrigerants. Following the gathering of a database of 5740 experimental liquid density datapoints of 36 pure refrigerants belonging to five different categories including CFCs, HCFCs, PFCs, HFCs and HFEs, ranging from 6...
